My name is Jenna and I’m the owner and creator behind The Cloth Side. I would like to start by saying that I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to grow my hobby into my little business. It is such an empowering experience bringing creative ideas, mine and my clients, to life.
As a little girl, I would sit and draw out new clothing designs and dream of having the ability to bring them into actual creation. I never had the tools available to me in order to learn; therefore, my dream of becoming a clothing designer faded to the back of my mind. I pursued other passions for years–reading, writing poetry and songs, singing, etc., but nothing ever quite lit that spark in my soul like designing did.
Once I got to college, life was too busy for hobbies so I spent five years working full-time at a bank and studying for my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. During that crazy time, I also had my first son. I was pregnant with my second son when I graduated with my degree. To say that I worked hard during those years is an understatement!
Without homework, my evenings were “free” and I started obsessing over cloth diapering. I stumbled into a diaper group where many WAHM’s (Work-At-Home-Moms) post their handmade diaper creations. My desire to design suddenly re-emerged and there was nothing stopping me from making it happen. I ended up with a sewing machine for Christmas at Thanksgiving time and I just started creating instantly. I taught myself to sew via my machine handbook, articles and videos.
It only took one month of creating to drive me to starting my business. I yearned to create amazing things for others and dreamt of seeing random people in public wearing my creations. My business started off immediately once I launched my Facebook page. My heart lit up with each like and admiration. I knew I was doing what I was meant to do in life – create!
I worked at the bank for another year after starting my business. I quit just weeks after my third child, my first daughter, was born. I knew it was going to be the best thing for myself and my children to stay home with them and continue to create.
Now here I am, my second year in business, still creating new things and loving every minute of it! I want to encourage you to follow your dream and your passion. Your happiness depends on it. You only get one life so make it worth living!

Pet Disclaimer: I do have a cat who resides in my home but does not enter my workspace. I also have an outdoor dog who occasionally comes indoors to visit. I take every necessary precaution to reduce the possibility of pet dander transferring to fabric, but anyone with severe pet allergies should be aware. My workspace will soon be in its own separate space, outside of the home so this won’t be an issue for much longer. Please contact me if you have any issues with this. Thank you!
